Overview
Website: foccad.org

Foundation for Community and Capacity Development (FOCCAD) is a  non-governmental organization whose head office is located in Nkhotakota. FOCCAD exists to improve the health and livelihoods of young adults, women, and children.

FOCCAD's Executive Director requested a new website layout. The current website is outdated and needs a redesign. The organization wants the new website to be more user-friendly and easy to understand. They also want to add more design elements, such as images and donation/call to action buttons, to tell their story and engage visitors and stakeholders.
Role: Lead Designer
As the sole designer, I am responsible for the entire design process, including user research, concept generation, finalizing designs, and building the website to achieve user and business objectives.
Applications Used
User Research: Summary
Users want to know more about the work that humanitarian organizations are doing. They want to see real-world examples of the impact that their donations are having. Organizations should provide more information about their projects and programs, and they should share stories about the people they are helping. Users want to know how much of their donation money goes to the cause, and how much goes to overhead or administrative expenses. Organizations should be transparent about their finances, and they should make this information easily accessible to users.

Paper Wireframes
Digital Wireframes
After sketching wireframes, I reviewed what needed improvement and what components needed to be added based off of research and goals of the project.

  • Client wanted social media platforms linked on each page and to show its latest posts.
  • Call to action buttons, more information and pages were added to help business growth and to help users               understand FOCCAD's mission.
  • Donation page and subscription added to website.
  • I added a Finances and Reporting page to inform users on how donations are distributed.
Design Decisions
The organization does not have a brand identity or brand standards that they follow. However, it does have specific colors that were implemented throughout the website. The serif and san-serif font pairing was chosen to make the website easy to navigate, read, and understand. I also wanted the site to have a classic but modern look to compliment the beautiful, timeless photos that FOCCAD provided to be added to the website. Consideration was given to the purpose of the website, the logo colors, and design goals given from FOCCAD's team.
High-Fidelity Prototype
The final high-fidelity prototype completes the user flow with added components and information.

What i've learned
Having a simple, intuitive website is essential for users, businesses and stakeholders because it is easy to use and navigate, which makes it more likely that users will find the information they need and stay on the website longer.

A well-designed website can encourage users to take desired actions, such as signing up for a newsletter, making a purchase, or contacting the company.

A professional-looking, user-friendly website can help to improve a company's brand reputation and make it appear more trustworthy and credible.
